Editions Note: Six editions total. Five in 1773: three in Philadelphia, one in New York, one in Boston. One edition in 1775, in Norwich, CT. Although originally published anonymously, Rush acknowledged authorship in the preface to his Essays, 1798. The second edition appended a separate pamphlet: "A vindication of the address, in answer to a pamphlet entitled, Slavery not forbidden in Scripture; or, A defence of the West India planters, By a Pennsylvanian."
