Four editions named on title pages, plus two misnamed editions and one reprint (seven total): one in 1774 (London), three in 1775 (London "second edition," London "third edition," New York "fourth edition"), two in 1776 (London "fourth edition," Newcastle upon Tyne "fourth edition"). Also reprinted in Select tracts on the subject of taxing the British colonies in America ... (London, 1775). Published anonymously except for the New York edition of 1775. Whitfield Bell's Patriot-Improvers mentions a German translation that does not appear in library catalogs. The Appeal was followed in 1775 by a Second Appeal
